Portraits

Last weekend I carried a ridiculous amount of equipment up to Cheshire on the train to go and shoot some portraits. Shot with a Hasselblad I have since scanned in the negs and got the images ready to be shown to you all.

I'm really pleased with these photos and really enjoyed the afternoon photographing - not to mention the yummy soup we got for dinner too!

Now I got a brand new combine harvester and I'll give you the key...

Farming, Tractors and Band Shoots

I had a whole other post planned for this evening however that's now coming tomorrow instead. Today we have updates for you on a few projects that you've seen developing recently over several posts.

Last week, just before I returned to university I managed to bag myself a new farming shoot. This time with a female farmer. So you remember my post "Mooove over - females coming through", well although I officially finished that uni project last semester it is a project I am continuing to work with as the theme is one of high importance to me. I found my first female farmer over Easter: Sally. Sally is a beef farmer from Cheshire. We had a lovely chat and here is one of my photos from the afternoon with her.

Sally is captured above during feeding time.

Secondly, on a similar noted in fact. Tractoring photos are now back from the darkroom...  I have around 20 photos to scan in on Monday. I'm also intending to get the last of my negs sent to be devv'ed on Monday as well.

I expect Monday afternoon could be a long one.

Finally, I got myself some assisting work over the Easter holidays - I forget if I've mentioned this before or not? Either way I was asked to photograph behind the scenes as well. The photographer, Ian Thraves has now published images from the shoot on his blog, available here.
Made even better by this...

One of my images from the day that is also featured on Ians blogpost.

Also you should really check out White Eskimo, the band we were photographing in the studio!
I will be posting more images from this day soon.
I will be posting more images from all of these three things soon even.

Preview!

It's been a ridiculously busy week for me so I haven't managed to get much done and I'm trying to get this article on dairy farming written. However, I have done a teeny bit of reviewing of images. These have no been edited in any way.

All of these photos were shot at John Platts dairy farm in Wimboldsely, Cheshire. They milk just over 800 cows at two different sites and I was given full access to everywhere. Amazing to see

The first calving shed, all calves here are between 4 and 14 days old.

One group of cows on the way out of the miking parlour whilst another is milked.

Looking down the milking stands. They cows were held in by what reminded me of a roller coaster barrier.

This is Gem, a very well loved Australian cattle dog.

I was very lucky to get this shoot and a big thank you to John Platt for allowing to me go around. I am now officially over my phobia of cows as well having spent time in the calving pens and the cow sheds. Not to mention having one stood right next to me while I photographed the milking parlour.
